Spotify extensions

spotify_logo

Spotify has gathered 1,4 million users worldwide faster than I could say “iTunes you’re so 2007″. I talked to Anders from Spotify today and he said that they have 38000 users in Finland, not a whole lot, but my friend Mika had talked to them a month ago when Finland was at 18000 users, so they’ve more than doubled their user base in 30 days.

I’ve been seriously hooked, and my only “problem” has been my own limited knowledge of good music. I’ve often found myself looking at the blinking cursor on the search field wanting to play something new, but haven’t come up with any. I want inspiration, I want more good music, I want to see what my friends have found.

Here’s some tools I found helpful:

Spotify Search 0.4.2
When reading about an artist anywhere online, you can select a song or album, right-click it and perform a search in the Spotify. (Only Firefox)

Spotylist
When you have your Spotify open click the Spotylist item and it gets added to your playlists. You can also share your own playlists.

ShareMyPlaylists.com
Similar to Spotylist, but more specific – you can search for playlists and add your own.

Toastify
Adds functionality to the Spotify client (Windows only), for example, track changes and global hot keys for Play/Pause, Next, Previous etc..

Pansentient
A music blog with Spotify specific news and information.
